    Byram "Halton" Gross

    January 1, 1940 - February 27, 2022

    Byram “Halton” Gross, 82, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022. Halton was born on January 1, 1940 in Old Hickory, TN, son to the late Lee and Anna Hinton Gross. He was also preceded in death by a sister Leann Swintz. Halton attended David Lipscomb College in Nashville, TN and received his BS & MA degrees from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, TN. He taught Chemistry and Physics for 5 years at Goodlettsville High School in Nashville before beginning his 36 year career with E.I. Dupont De Nemours & Company. During his time at Dupont, Halton worked as a Consultant traveling all over the world, which he deeply enjoyed. When not working or spending time with his family that he loved dearly, Halton enjoyed photography, music and woodworking. He attended Madison Church of Christ in Madison, TN for 18 years, where he enjoyed teaching Bible School and also served as a Deacon. Once Halton moved to Charlotte, he joined Providence Road Church of Christ where he served as an Elder for almost 27 years. He was also President of the Board of Trust with Providence Christian School for over 20 years. Halton is survived by his loving wife Peggy Gross of Charlotte, NC to whom he married in August of 1961; son Greg Gross and wife Kristi of Lake Wylie, SC; daughter Charlotte Gross of Charlotte, NC; grandsons Kristopher Gross and wife Myranda of Greenville, SC, Jackson Gross and wife Alissa of Auburn, AL; and Connor Gross of Lake Wylie, SC; and by his niece Monica Swintz of Washington, DC. Services in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00PM at Providence Road Church of Christ, 4900 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. The family will receive visitors after the service. The service will be livestreamed from Providence Road Church of Christ’s Facebook and YouTube pages. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Road Church of Christ, 4900 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
