April 15, 1957 - February 21, 2022
David Ray Elizondo died peacefully on Monday, February 21, 2022, at age 64 after a fight with cancer. David was born in Inglewood, California, on April 15, 1957, the oldest child of Raymond Brown Elizondo and Frances Ortiz Elizondo. He was reared in Lawndale, California, and he graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1975. David’s father introduced him to the joy of fishing when he was young, often taking him fishing on the Redondo Beach California pier and the mountain lakes of the California forests. David married Deni in 1982, and their family grew quickly with their wonderful children David, Danielle and Dylan. Today, David’s great joy in fishing and hunting is a tradition that his children are passing down to their own kids. David worked in the semiconductor industry in the early days of the Silicon Valley, and his professional development led to a career with The Standard Insurance Company where he was a Systems Support Specialist in the company’s New York offices. After his retirement from The Standard, David relocated to North Carolina to live near his parents. In his retirement, David enjoyed raising retrievers as well as buying and selling items at gun and knife shows around the Carolinas. Until the end, David’s constant companion was Milo, his beloved Chihuahua. David was a member of the parish of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ballantyne. His ashes will be interned alongside his father’s ashes in the St. Matthew Columbarium. David is survived by his mother, Fran, his three children David, Danielle and Dylan, his children’s mother Deni, eleven grandchildren, and his siblings, Richard, Lorena and Arleen. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3, at 11:00am at St. Matthew Catholic Church located at 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway in south Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations would be made to one of the following fine organizations: The Levine Center, 1021 Morehead Medical Drive, Charlotte, NC 28204; The National Parks Conservation Association, 400 South 2nd Avenue Barstow, Calif 92311; or Chihuahua Rescue and Transport, P.O.
