Diane Turner Virkler

July 27, 1944 - May 9, 2022

Diane Turner Virkler, age 77, of Charlotte North Carolina, passed in the comfort of her home on May 9, 2022, ending her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Philadelphia, PA to parents, the late Edwin Turner and Ruth Turner. Diane attended Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ, earning an Associates Degree in Fashion Design. She later earned her Bachelors degree in Communications from Queens University in Charlotte, NC. Diane was loved and admired by friends and family. She was first dedicated to her family and raising her boys, and admirably diligent in ensuring care for her special needs son Gregory. She was not one to stop moving for long. After retiring from a long career with The Home Builders Association of Charlotte, she launched into a new career as a realtor with Cottingham Chalk Realtors, which she did until receiving her cancer diagnosis in December of 2021. Diane was well known for her amazing talent for art (oil painting). She spent her adult life developing her talent and unique style. Her subjects reflected her love for city scenes in places such as Charlotte, New York, and Charleston, SC. She displayed her artwork through various galleries as well as donated her artwork to fundraisers for local churches and schools. Being a life-long dog lover, Diane enjoyed the companionship of her beloved dog, Oreo, which provided her a daily routine of walks and socializing with her neighbors. Diane is survived by her children Gregory Virkler, Eric Virkler (Amy), Sean Virkler (Melissa), grandchildren, Andrew Virkler, Sarah Virkler, Yls Virkler, Zachary Virkler and her brother, Edwin Turner (Manami). A service and reception will be held on Thursday, May 19th 10:00am at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter at 2701 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209. A private graveside service for family will be held after the funeral.
