Dora May Clayton Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dora May Clayton, 89, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 5, 2022. Dora was born in Vienna, West Virginia, to Fred and Lora Moore on August 3, 1932. She had one brother and two sisters who preceded her in death. Her son, Jeff Clayton, and granddaughter, Janelle Clayton, also preceded her in death. She is survived by her adoring husband, Charles Clayton. They were married in 1953 and had 69 beautiful years together. Dora is also survived by her daughter, Terry Geisler (Mark), her daughter-in-law, Jan Clayton, and five grandchildren—Justin Clayton (Meaghan), Jeremy Clayton (Julia), Joni Volious (Vaughn), Lindsay Geisler and Morgan Geisler. She was also blessed with six great grandchildren and another on the way. Dora was a kind, loving spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was adored by so many. She was the forever cheerleader of her grandchildren and never wanted to miss a sports, school, or church event. She and her husband, Charles, are long time members of Calvary Church, and they both worked in helping with food services for special functions at the church. While living in Matthews for 36 years, Dora had always thought of West Virginia as her home. She often enjoyed West Virginia University Mountaineer sports with her husband. Thus, her favorite song has always been “Country Roads.” Please join the family in celebrating Dora’s life on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Calvary Church, 5801 Pineville Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226. Family will be receiving friends before the service from 10:00 am until 10:45 am.
