    James Henry Seegars

    February 21, 1935 - March 17, 2022

James H. Seegars, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 17 at University Rehab Center in Charlotte. Jim was born in Jefferson, South Carolina to Henry and Mildred Seegars. The family moved to Charlotte when he was a young child. He spent the rest of his life in Charlotte. Jim joined the Army in 1951, achieving the rank of Sargent. He fought valiantly on the front lines in the Korean War, ultimately earning a Silver Star for valor in combat as well as a Purple Heart for performing a singularly meritorious act of extraordinary fidelity and service while being wounded in action. During his military service, while he was home on leave, Jim noticed a pretty, petite girl singing in the choir while attending Allen Street Baptist Church. He asked his sister, Mary Lee, if she knew her and if he could get her number. She said yes and they met shortly thereafter. Patricia Moser was the love of his life. They were married 8 months later and were married for 65 years, until her death in 2021. While starting a family, Jim put himself through school to become an automobile technician. He spent his entire career in that occupation and always kept family and friends' vehicles in top working order. Jim had an incredible memory until the end and loved telling fascinating stories about his life. He was a lifelong, active member of Shamrock Drive Baptist Church and Grace Crossing Baptist. Jim is predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia, his daughter, Stephanie Campbell, his granddaughter Kayla Campbell, and his sister, Pat. Jim is survived by his son, James D. Seegars, his daughter Cynthia Harper, son-in-law Robert Campbell, his grandchildren, Tyler St. John, Shannon St. John, Joshua Campbell, Shanley Campbell, and Grayson Campbell and his sister Mary Lee Horne. A graveside memorial service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, on Saturday, March 26 at 12:30 PM
