Jean Louise Houseal Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jean Louise Shepp Houseal, 92, of The Dorchester, Pineville, NC passed away on February 28, 2022, following a brief illness. She was born in York, Pennsylvania on December 25, 1929, to Mary E. Fantom Shepp and Raymond F. Shepp. She graduated in 1947 from William Penn High School, York PA. On May 29, 1948, she married the love of her life, Rodney V. Houseal. She moved to State College, PA when her husband attended Penn State. In the years they lived there, she became the consummate fan of the Blue and White. At football games, her favorite cheer was “We Are……” (response: Penn State!) She lived in Orange, NJ; Harrisburg, PA; and finally settled in Camp Hill, PA, where she and Rod raised their two daughters. She moved to Pineville, NC in 2016, to be closer to her girls and their families. Besides her love for her family and PSU, she enjoyed playing bridge, loved all her dogs and “granddogs” in the family, and was especially blessed with a green thumb and a love for gardening and growing flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years, and her sister, Doris Shepp Ilgenfritz. She is survived by her sister, Janice Ruby of Bridgeville, DE; daughters, Deborah Houseal White (Rick), Charlotte, NC and Jane Houseal Blosser (Rick), Carolina Shores, NC; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and five nieces. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made online to donatehospice.org to Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster.
