Jerry Jerome Medders of Lincoln, AL Jerry Jerome Medders (76) passed away peacefully and into the presence of the Lord on June 26, 2022. Jerry was born to Winnie Medders and Gene Medders in Anniston, AL. on May 3, 1946, and had two siblings, Jimmy Medders and Donna Medders. He was the husband of Cleate W Medders, for 52 years, and the father of two children, Jerry (Jay) Medders Jr. and Michelle Medders Swinford. He is the grandfather of Katie Swinford Morrison, Jorja Medders, Campbell Medders, and Evan Medders and father-in-law to Tammy Medders (Jay’s wife). He is preceded in death by his wife, father, mother, and brother. To his family, Jerry was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother who loved to spend time and have fun with his family. He loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Whether it was fishing, boating, doing projects (ex. building a house, making curio cabinets for doll collections, fully restoring a classic VW Bug, completely renovating a trailer to get his son through college, helping to renovate his children’s first homes), throwing baseball, going to cheerleading clinics, playing music on the guitar, etc. (the list is endless), he was the consummate family man. He was a man of faith and instilled that faith in his family along with strong values, which he taught primarily by example. He was known by his family and others as being kind, even tempered, a hard worker, honest, dependable, trusting, compassionate, and hopeful. He believed in a person’s ability to achieve and overcome any challenge if one is willing to commit, hold oneself accountable, and do what needed to be done. As a business owner of Quality Heating and Air Conditioning Co., he was known as an expert and master craftsman with skillful hands, a sharp mind, and a desire to invest in the development of others. He had a deep belief and trust in people and would not shy away from taking personal risks to help someone. To his customers, he was known as very fair, kind, and extraordinarily competent in his craft. Although he employed several top technicians, but for countless customers, it simply had to be Jerry that came to their homes. To people in the broader community, he was known as very warm, inviting, funny, and talkative (especially when discussing one of his many interests). He made everyone who came into his home feel welcomed and at ease. He never turned down an opportunity to help someone. He is survived by his children Michelle Medders Swinford and Jerry (Jay) Medders, Jr (Tammy); sister, Donna Clayton; grandchildren Katie Swinford Morrison, Jorja, Campbell and Evan Medders; and other relatives and friends.
