    Larry Lee Linker

    November 26, 1949 - May 9, 2022

Larry Lee Linker, 72, of Stallings, NC passed away Monday, May 9, 2022. Larry was born on November 26, 1949 in Monroe, NC to Paul C Linker and Virginia Linker. He met the love of his life, Pam, while roller skating at Cavalier Skating Rink in Charlotte, NC when he was 16 years of age and she was 14 years of age. They were later united in marriage on March 7, 1970. Larry attended East Mecklenburg High School and Independence High School before he was drafted into the United States Army in September 1969. He served in communications in the Vietnam War in Heilbronn, Germany with his military service ending in 1971. His bride lived with him during his stint in Germany and prior to being stationed in Germany he was also stationed briefly in Fort Gordon, GA and in Fort Polk, LA. Larry’s career path was in the automotive industry that began back during his high school years from washing cars, to learning his trade as a mechanic, to later as an auto shop service writer, to selling cars and later a surplus auto buyer for local car dealers. Larry was good at his career and his love of “anything automotive” opened the door for him into drag racing, go-kart racing and motorcycle racing. His passion for racing fueled his winner spirit and he held the North Carolina State Championship for Go-Kart Racing in 1983. He and his son, Wes Linker, shared the spirit of competition and love of racing and they made many great memories together through the years on the race track. Larry's other passion in life was his love of the game of golf where he established many life long friends and the comradery that came with those wonderful friendships. His faith in God was reared in his youth through his family’s affiliation in the Baptist church. He well loved his beloved family and his pet schnauzer, Ruger. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Pam Linker, of 52 years, his son, Wes Linker, (Carrie), their two daughters, Kaitlyn and Sara. He is also survived by his siblings Jerry Linker (Karen), Ronnie Linker, Mark Linker (Denise), Brenda Piercy, Elaine Long, and Carolyn Pigg (Larry). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Wayne Linker. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home at 11am followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery at 12pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Atrium Hospice House of Monroe, NC.
