Margaret Ellen Aery Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Margaret Ellen Herter Aery (Peg) was born on April 30, 1926, in Newark, New Jersey, and was raised in Verona, NJ. She left this earth peacefully on January 9, 2022, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Margaret is survived by her son, Adrian C. Aery III (Christine), her daughter, Sue E. Aery (Deborah), her loving grandchildren Christopher Ekstrom (Katherine), Caitlin Young (Chris), Margaret Aery (Roarke), Cristen Aery (Michael), Adrianne Darling (John), Sue Fischer (Alan) and her 9 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, Adrian C. Aery, Jr., her son, William Aery, and her daughter, Janet Cavanaugh. Peg became a pillar of the Caldwell, NJ, community where she raised her own family, residing there until 2016, when she moved to Charlotte to be closer to family. Peg spent her years in Caldwell as a Hospice volunteer, president of the PTA, serving on the Altar Guild and other missions at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Essex Fells, NJ, and was an active realtor in the West Essex area. She was an avid tennis and platform tennis player and spent many years playing bridge and gardening. She also loved bird watching, becoming a supporter of Audubon and Cornell Ornithology. She graduated from Verona High School and Centenary Junior College. Her life will be celebrated later this year in Charlotte and in Caldwell. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, her friends and her quirky phrases and “Pegisms”.
