    Maryanne Crosgrove Alexander

    June 29, 1938 - March 17, 2022

    Maryanne C. Alexander, 83, of Charlotte, NC passed away on March 17th. She was born on June 29, 1938 to the late George and Anne Bergdoll Crosgrove. Maryanne attended the University of Maryland and majored in nutrition. She was married to the late Thomas White Alexander who passed away on December 8, 2004. Thomas’ career at IBM, lead them to move around. They lived in New York; Wilmington, DE; Pennsylvania; Manassas, VA; Cary, NC; Lexington, KY; and Charlotte, NC. Maryanne taught preschool at Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC; worked at a daycare in Lexington, KY; and as a volunteer at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC. Maryanne enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading books and dancing. She also enjoyed exploring nature, strolls on the beach and spending time in prayer for others. The overwhelming love she had for her family was felt by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as the kitty cats that she considered her furry family. Maryanne is survived by her children Gwen (Peter) Wood of Denton, MD; Amy (Archie) Litaker of Weddington, NC; Nora (Chris) Moss of Lake Wylie, SC and Thomas (Jodie) Alexander of Charlotte, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mary Wood Curry, Laura Wood, Mark (Erica) Wood, Justin (Lauren) Litaker, Hunter (Sofia) Litaker, Ashley (Ashton) Gaines and Amanda (Nathan) Rodriquez; great-grandchildren Kirsten, Elizabeth, Brian, Annalee, Alexander, Grace, Eloise and Brody; sister Betsy (Kenny) Wood of Denton, MD; and brother George Crosgrove of Front Royal, VA. A celebration of Maryanne’s life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home - Weddington Chapel, on Friday, March 25th, 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution in Maryanne’s honor to the SPCA of Charlotte, https://www.charlottespca.org/donate The family would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff at Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as Hospice and Palliative Care of the Charlotte Region.
