Rev. Dr. Richard Boyce Earnhardt, age 87 of Indian Trail, NC passed away Monday, May, 31 2021 in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Charlotte, NC on October 28, 1933 to parents Robert Turner Earnhardt Sr. and Anabelle Fowler Earnhardt; both preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Sardis Baptist Church of Indian Trail at 2:00PM with a visitation immediately following. The memorial service will be live-streamed on the YouTube channel for Sardis Baptist Church of Indian Trail, NC. Boyce was a retired ordained Southern Baptist Minister. He graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte, NC and went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree at Queens College; his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Theological Seminary at Wake Forest, NC and his Doctorate of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary in Jacksonville, FL. Boyce was a pastor at Sardis Baptist Church in Indian Trail, NC for 19 years, a pastor at Rose Lane Baptist Church in Marietta, GA for 7 years, a pastor to senior citizens at Shamrock Drive Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC for 3 years and a house parent at North Carolina Baptist Children’s Home in Lenoir, NC for 7 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and traveling all over the United States and to the Holy Land. Boyce was a humble servant of God and a kind and gentle husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a pastor in every sense of the word and he had a special heart for senior citizens. Boyce is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Barbara “Jean” Earnhardt, daughters; Patty Earnhardt Hughes and husband John Hughes and Elaine Earnhardt Potter and husband Gary Potter. Grandchildren; Matt Potter and wife Emily Potter, Ben Potter and wife Brittany Potter, Elizabeth Hamilton and husband Carlton Hamilton, Ethan Hughes and Jacob Hughes, great-grandchildren; Nick Potter, Preston Potter, Blake Potter, Tristan Potter, Boyce Potter and Harper Hamilton. He is preceded in death by his brother Bob Earnhardt and sisters Faye Ivey and Barbara McCallum. Memorials to be made to the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in honor of Rhonda Long Stewart and her family on the mission field in India. The family is in the care of Heritage Funeral Home Indian Trail Chapel.
