Sara Fox

Sara Fox 7/10/46-12/18/21 Sara Fox, age 75, passed away on December 18, 2021, after a short illness in Matthews, NC. Sara was a whirlwind of constant motion in her life. She spent 75 years always moving, and always enjoying the ride. Though she was retired, she kept up a pace that few could achieve...she had spent many a day running, swimming, and biking her way across the Lake Norman area. In her later years, she included practicing yoga into her daily routine. In her neighborhood in Cornelius, her friends could set their watches by seeing Sara pedaling by. She always loved moving. Sara and her husband, Wesley, loved living at Lake Norman and enjoyed so many active things together. In the 39 years of marriage, Sara shared with him her love of cats, boating, reading, and her love of gardening and flowers. Sara could often be seen working on her yard, her small body pushing a lawnmower up the hills and tending to many flowering shrubs and bushes. She enjoyed making her home more beautiful and the time that she could spend outdoors. Sara’s yard and home were her “happy places” and she took so much comfort and enjoyment on making them special. Always an animal lover, Sara had a particular love for her cats. After having many purebred Persian cats in her younger years, Sara also was known to take in a stray whenever she could. From furry and pampered house cats to timid wanderers, they were all treated the same in Sara’s home. All were named, taken care of and loved with the utmost care. Throughout her life, Sara was a woman on the move. From a cheerleader at Myers Park to a graduate of UNC-Greensboro, and then onto selling real estate and even a very successful stint as a Mary Kay consultant, one thing always rang true...Sara was an outgoing, fun loving person that loved being active and busy. And she thankfully remained very active all throughout her life. Often, after a full day, you would find Sara on her porch with a book from the library...enjoying the outdoors, and taking a “little break”. With her faith and blessings, it was a whirlwind of a life. Though she might be remembered as the woman that many saw pedaling away all over Lake Norman, we will also remember her smile, southern drawl, and a deep tan from living a beautiful life outdoors. A life full of constant motion...but a life well lived. In memory of Sara, take a walk outside, or better yet, a bike ride. Hopefully, you will feel the freedom and joy of nature like she did. Feel the sun on your skin, stop and smell the flowers, and take in all the joys of life in front of you...that’s what Sara would have wanted. Sara was survived by her husband, John Wesley Fox; her brother, David McKnitt Alexander of Charlotte; her sister Troy Alexander Topper and husband Rick Topper of New Bern, NC along with children Jessie Cole Topper and Zachary Alexander Topper; her nephew and wife, David and Ann Alexander (Mt. Pleasant, SC); her niece Kimberly Alexander Bogert of Charlotte; her stepdaughter Whitney Fox Gray and husband Jim Gray of Matthews, NC; stepson Brandon Wesley Fox and wife Paula Fox from Waxhaw, NC; and stepdaughter Lauren Fox Pardue and husband Travis Pardue of Waxhaw, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Sara Alexander (Charlotte, NC) and her sister in law Jo Alexander of Charlotte.
