Susan (Sue) Elizabeth Barton

Susan (Sue) Elizabeth Barton, 70, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Atrium Health Pineville. Sue was born on December 6, 1951 in Rochester, NY. She was preceded in death by her mother Jean Garzone (Albert Garzone also deceased); her father Edward Studley, and brothers-in-law Larry Knapp and Kendall Keyes. Sue married her best friend Kevin on July 27, 1997. She lived in Fairport, NY and Greenwood, SC, before she and Kevin made Waxhaw, NC their home. Sue worked for 18 years at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY and retired from Harris Teeter as a store accountant. Her FAMILY: husband, children and grandchildren were the most important things in her life. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and wife; devoted Christian; champion for animals; caring, loving, sharp-witted, humble, and lover of life. She loved movies and was an excellent cook. She was a Christian and member of West Bloomfield United Church of Christ in New York. Sue is survived by her husband Kevin M. Keyes of Waxhaw, NC; children Douglas L. Barton (Margaret Jones) of Waterloo, SC; Lindsay A. Gould (Andrew) of Charlotte NC; Zachary M. Keyes (Elizabeth Beck) of Spartanburg, SC, (and several foster children) grandchildren: Jillian Barton, Clover Keyes, Scarlett Keyes, Penelope Gould, Daniel Gammon, Ryleigh Gammon, Parker Gammon; sister Maryellen Knapp of Carrollton, Texas; Sisters-In-Law: Cathy and Wendy (Doug); brother-in-law Corey (Teresa) all from NY; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. She was also loved and will be missed by her smooth collie, Kooper and calico cat, Tallulah. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Guiding Eyes for the Blind.
