Wesley Irvin Edens

August 29, 1932 - February 11, 2022

Mr. Wesley Irving Edens, 89, went home to be with the Lord February 11, 2022. He was born August 29, 1932 in Draper, North Carolina, to Mr. Elzie Marlin Edens and Mrs. Flora Boyd Edens. Wesley was a graduate of NC State University, a US Air Force veteran and was a textile engineer with Boston Scientific until his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Matthews United Methodist Church, enjoyed playing tennis well into his eighties and was happiest when working on his 1966 Buick Special. If you were to ask Wesley what his secret to a long life was, he would probably say that you should not take life too seriously. He loved to carry on long, detailed conversations often asking questions that would have even the most serious of people either laughing, confused or totally engaged. He was preceded in death not only by his parents but his seven brothers and sisters. Wesley was a patient, calm, happy, gentle soul that enjoyed life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Edens of Matthews; step-daughter Lynn Presson (Philip) of Monroe; step-son Scott Allen (Hope) of Mineral Springs; grandchildren Alex LeFlore (Allison): McKenzie LeFlore; Jack Allen; Nate Allen; nieces Cheri Gilley(Doc) of Little River, S.C.; Betty LeRoux (Daneel) of Greenville, N.C; nephew Bill Horsley (Laura) of Eden, N.C.
