William "Bill" Donovan Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William “Bill” Donovan, age 61, passed away at home on June 17, 2022. He was born on May 1, 1961 in Chicago, IL to the late John and Mary Donovan. He married the love of his life, Sue Loiacono, in May 1992 and they were blessed with 30 years of a lovely marriage. Bill served 8 years in the United States Navy and 2 years in the Navy Reserve. Being an avid sports fan he enjoyed supporting his home state’s sports teams from the Chicago White Sox, Bears, Bulls and the Cubs. In his younger days he played softball and later in life he went on to share his love of sports by coaching his son’s baseball games. Bill also received great joy as he proudly traveled with his son’s team to numerous baseball tournaments. Bill was blessed to have had almost 15 years after his initial brain cancer diagnosis. He was determined to see his four children grow up to be young adults and his determination afforded him that exact privilege. He fought valiantly through some difficult times but, at last, it was time for him to rest. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Sue Donovan, and his four children, Brian (Brittany), Sara, Brandon and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister, Dr. Suzanne Donovan. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 2:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home Weddington Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the following: The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center Duke University Medical Center DUMC Box 3624 Durham, NC 27710 Arrangements are being handled by Heritage Funeral Home Weddington Chapel.
