Helen Ann Swanson

Helen Ann Swanson, 90, passed away on March 5. 2022, at Matthews/Novant Medical Center in Matthews, NC. She was born in Chicago, IL on June 22, 1931, to the late Herbert O. Peterson and Mildred F. (nee: Gardner) Peterson. She was a graduate of Jones Commercial High School in Chicago. She was a bookkeeper for several insurance companies and nursing homes, retiring from The Cypress of Charlotte in 2001. She married Richard A. Swanson in 1949. He predeceased her in 1993. Helen was a prior resident of Camp Lake, WI and Clearwater, FL before moving to the Charlotte area in 1992. Helen is survived by her children: Lynn Brod (James) of Indian Trail, NC, and Dave Swanson (Diane Bambrough) of Salem, WI; Grandchildren: Jason Brod (Tracy Chao), Mt. Holly, NC; Jacob Brod (Lindsay Griffin), Pineville, NC; Danielle Welker (Kevin), Salem, WI; Deanne Janda (Eddie), Twin Lakes, WI; David Swanson, Salem, WI; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her many friends. Helen was also predeceased by her sister, Mary Jane Paulson. A memorial service will be held on April 2, 2022 at 2p.m. at Unity of Charlotte, 401 East Arrowood Rd., Charlotte, NC 28217. Please note: shoes are not allowed in the church; Masks are optional. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Unity of Charlotte, your local Hospice, or charity of your choice.
