Jeffrey E. Stengel, 74 of Matthews, NC passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2022 surrounded by family and friends after a long illness. Jeff as he was known to family and friends is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Helen; Sisters, Nina Dyjak, Gail Stengel, Anita Dickman and Karen Stengel all of Buffalo, NY and many favorite nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death is his mother Helga Prost Ball. Jeff grew up in Buffalo, NY. After graduating high school he joined the US Air Force and served overseas where he fell in love with England. He graduated from the University of Maryland, European Campus with a B.A. and worked for Chrysler International in London before returning to the states to pursue his career in Insurance. He retired from Hartford Insurance in 2007. He was a sparkling conversationalist and loved to golf. He was well loved by his family and friends whom he relied on as his illness progressed in the past few years. Michelle Soutier of Weddington was his devoted friend to the end. Services will be private.
