Philip "Dutch" Arthur Vanderbosch Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Philip A. “Dutch” Vanderbosch, 92, from Matthews, NC, son of Amandus and Louise Vanderbosch, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Joanne Eleazer Vanderbosch, his 4 children from his first marriage to Dolores “Dee” Vanderbosch who pre-deceased him in 1994: Mark Vanderbosch of Cocoa, FL, Dave (Caryn) Vanderbosch of Rock Hill, SC, Kathy (Jim) Grogan of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Phil (Linda) Vanderbosch of Charlotte, NC, two grandchildren, Nicole (Bobby) Bush, Zachary Vanderbosch and two great grandchildren Louie and Nora Bush. Dutch leaves behind a large extended family including Chase Crawford and Joanne’s three daughters Dana (Cave) Gaines, Nancy (Ken) Klug, Tricia (Steve) Norris and their respective children Addison (Melanie) Gaines, Meredith Gaines, David Klug, Joanna Klug, Brooke Norris, Campbell Norris and his best pal, Ken Costanza. Dutch is also survived by his sister Virginia Powers of Pittsburgh, PA.Two brothers have pre-deceased him, Tom Vanderbosch of San Jose, CA and Richard Vanderbosch of Loveland, CO. Dutch was born on April 24, 1930, in Mishawaka, IN, attended St. Josephs High School in South Bend, IN, and St. Josephs College in Rensselaer, IN.He was a US Army Veteran and he retired from a long career in sales and marketing from G. Heileman Brewing Co., LaCrosse, WI. Dutch was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football and loved playing golf throughout his life ,playing up until just a year ago. He was an avid sports fan and competitor, evident by several gold medals he won in various sports in the Charlotte Senior Games. He thrived in having an active social life, listening to jazz music, playing cards with family and spending time at the lake with everyone. Dutch was adored by all as a kind and funny man; a joy to be around. He will be sorely missed. The family requests that in lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region (hpccr.org), St Matthew Catholic Church (stmatthewcatholic.org), or JazzArts Charlotte (thejazzarts.org). A funeral mass will take place at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte on Friday 8/19/2022 at 11am. Visitation followed by a prayer service will take place on 8/20/2022 at 10:30am at Heritage Funeral Home in Matthews, NC. Burial service will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
