    Shirley Margaret Dryer

    April 20, 1932 - November 3, 2021

Shirley Margaret Lossing Dryer, 89, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on November 3, 2021. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; as well as a precious friend to many. She loved the Lord deeply and will always be remembered for her love of Scripture and prayer. Shirley was active for many years in Stonecroft Ministries and Christian Women's Club; and loved to lead prayer gatherings with women. Shirley enjoyed playing the organ, knitting for her many grandchildren and chatting with friends. She loved sharing a good cup of tea with a friend. Shirley was born on April 20, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario Canada to the late William and Margaret (Campbell) Betsworth. Shirley was proud of her Canadian heritage and loved singing "O Canada" whenever the opportunity arose. Shirley married Donald Lossing on August 9, 1952, and served faithfully as a pastor's wife in churches in Illinois, Ontario and Connecticut. Together they raised four children Karen, Paul, Susan and John. After their losses, Shirley and Walt were blessed to be introduced by special friends and they married on July 26, 1986. Shirley supported and worked alongside Walt in the Community Chaplaincy Service for many years. Shirley loved and accepted the Dryer family as her own and was a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother. Shirley was predeceased by her first husband Donald Lossing, brother Skip Betsworth, and great-grandchildren Jade, Celeste and Josiah. She is survived by her husband Walter Dryer, children Karen (Jim) Ross, Paul (Dorothy) Lossing, Susan (Dave) Honeychurch and John Lossing; step-children David (Judy) Dryer, Janet Burton, Nancy (Arturo) Muro, Richard (Diane)Dryer, Sandy (Mike) Flynn, 27 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 8th at Living Hope at Ballantyne, 11724 Elm Ln, Charlotte, NC 28277. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 AM, with funeral service to begin at 11 AM. Burial will be at Union Cemetery in Moosup, CT at a later date. Memorials may be made to Stonecroft Ministries by phone, email or online at PO Box 8900 Kansas City, MO 64114, [email protected], www.stonecroft.org, or 1-800-525-8627.
